In order to study multiple myeloma and develop new treatments for this disease, animal models are required that accurately reflect the disease in humans. One series of models have been shown to mimic the human disease: however, these models are not widely available. We are proposing to establish a core facility based jointly in the laboratories of Dr. Peter Croucher at the University Sheffield Medical School and Dr. Karin Vanderkerken at the Free University in Brussels to maintain these models and make them available for researchers interested in the biology and treatment of myeloma.
