"The significance of the unfolded protein response pathway in multiple myeloma and its potential as a therapeutic target"
This proposal is an extension of our current research and is based on our finding that a group of genes are up regulated in multiple myeloma patients in comparison with normal healthy controls. The specific aim of this study is to further understand the significance of these upregulated genes in multiple myeloma. We propose to achieve this aim by extending our analysis of 45 MM patients on 19000 more genes in order to describe new genes that may be expressed differently in diseased versus normal plasma cells. We also propose to study the potential of two known genes as potential therapeutic targets.
