"Toward MM Immunotherapy by Adoptive Transfer of Idiotype-specific T Cells"

We have recently reported the first description of a successful primary anti-myeloma immune response mediated by T cells. We wish now to characterize the mechanisms of how the immune system prevents myeloma development. This knowledge should contribute to the development of new strategies for therapy of multiple myeloma. Adoptive T cell-transfer therapy has been successful for melanoma patients. Our preliminary work indicates that transfer of myeloma-specific T cells may efficiently cure mice from multiple myeloma. We wish to extend these initial studies with the aim of developing optimal protocols for immunotherapy of multiple myeloma in a well-defined mouse model.
