"A Novel Multiplex Drug Screening Assay (MDSA) of compounds related to Multiple Myeloma"

We are proposing a new, more comprehensive anticancer drug screening assay that is based on simultaneous testing of up to 100 myeloma cell secreted factors important for in vivo myeloma cell proliferation, survival, and progression. The proposed multiparameteric screening assay is based on the novel LabMAP technology and is utilizing tumor cell conditioned media that is actually neglected by the current drug screening assays. Myeloma cell conditioned medium is a rich source of tumor-produced molecules and could be highly informative about tumor cell ability to produce angiogenic factors, growth factors, cytokine, chemokines, and MMP's that are essential for myeloma proliferation, survival, and disease progression. This might increase the yield of discovered anticancer drugs. It is possible taht this assay might help to identify compounds that are able to increase production of angiogenic, growth factors, or cytokines/chemokines that might be useful for therapy of cancer-nonrelated diseases. MDSA is a flexible assay. The multiplex analytic panel can be extended by incorporation of new important targets.
