Roger Ebert, Sun-Times film critic included Lederer as a personable friend "who gave him much-needed advice when the 2 worked in the same newsroom together."

Tom McNamee, Sunday editor of the Sun-Times said Landers' columns dispensed "good common sense. Sometimes newspapers get to do great things, and Eppie did great things. Through her column, always so full of wisdom and wit and good common sense, she helped so many people, more than any of us will ever know."
