ING New York City Half Marathon has become an instant "must do" event for runners. An unusual course for NYC, this half marathon starts with a loop of Central Park, then leaves via Columbus Circle for a romp through Times Square, making a left to run the final, flat miles along the West Side Highway to Battery Park with the Statue of Liberty in sight. This event is so popular that the NY Road Runners holds a lottery to determine who gets to run it! Note: Entry to this event is contingent upon MMRF receiving charity status — but sign up now to be the first to know if we get charity numbers.

Later you get a tour of Crystal City, and the Pentagon before crossing the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial. Held each year in December, the Society's annual meeting provides hematologists from around the world a forum for discussing critical issues in hematology. More than 21,000 clinicians, scientists, and others attend the four-day meeting, which consists of a superb educational program and cutting-edge scientific sessions. The annual meeting features oral and poster presentations that are chosen by peer-reviewers from abstracts submitted prior to the meeting and contain the latest and most exciting developments in scientific research. Plenary symposia and named lectures on specialized areas of hematology are also presented throughout the meeting program.
