Title:  
Phase II Trial of Arsenic Trioxide and Thalidomide in the Treatment of Patients With Refractory Multiple Myeloma
Phase:  
II
Purpose:  
To determine the effectiveness of arsenic trioxide in combination with thalidomide
Eligibility:  
  • Diagnosis of multiple myeloma
  • relapsed from or are refractory to up to 3 prior therapies
  • previous thalidomide therapy is appropriate but not necessary
  • adequate liver and kidney function
  • limited neuropathy
Treatment:  
Patients receive Trisenox® by IV injection over 1 hour Monday through Friday during week 1, and then twice weekly during weeks 2 through 4. On weeks 5 and 6, patients do not receive Trisenox. Patients receive oral thalidomide daily starting the first day of treatment (1 cycle = 6 weeks). Depending on patients responses, they may stay on treatment for up to 8 cycles
