 |
| Phase: |
II |
 |
| Purpose: |
To determine the effectiveness of receiving an allogeneic transplant after an autologous transplant to treat myeloma |

| Treatment: |
Patients receive an IV injection of melphalan the day before receiving an autologous stem cell transplant. The day after the stem cells have been harvested and reinfused, patients receive G-CSF, either by injection or IV until white blood cell counts have recovered and are stable for 3 days. Approximately 100 to 182 days after patient's own stem cells are reinfused, the miniallogeneic procedure begins including fludarabine and cyclophosphamide over 5 days followed by and donor stem cell infusion. A combination of cyclosporine and solumedrol are administered for up to 4 months after the miniallogeneic transplant to help with acceptance of the new cells and to help prevent graft vs host disease |
