Title:  
High-dose Melphalan Followed by Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation and Posttransplant Thalidomide Therapy for Chemotherapy-responsive Multiple Myeloma
Phase:  
II
Purpose:  
To determine effectiveness and best-tolerated dose of thalidomide in combination with high-dose chemotherapy and transplant
Eligibility:  
  • Diagnosis of myeloma
  • 18 to 69 years old
  • At least 4 weeks since last chemotherapy
  • Not currently smoking
Treatment:  
At 100 days post stem cell transplant, patients start 200 mg per day of oral thalidomide. The dose is increased as tolerated
